A nameplate combines a short piece of writing with a physical object. Review those two parts together: the letters must be correct, and they must sit where you expect them on the finished shape.
Read the exact wording
Read a name slowly, one character at a time. Check capitals, initials, spaces and punctuation against the text you submitted. A familiar name can be easy to skim past even when one letter is wrong.
Check spacing and placement
- Look at the space around the first and last letters.
- Check whether the text is centered on the intended face of the object.
- Confirm which side faces the person reading it.
- Compare the overall dimensions with the place where the nameplate will stand.
Keep a clear approval record
When a preview needs a change, describe the exact part to update. For example, identify the word, the letter or the edge that needs more space. Review the revised preview as a whole, since a small text change may affect the arrangement.
